Style Crush - Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

This weeks style crush is about an English model and actress called Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. She was born in Plymouth, Devon on 18th April 1987 and grew up on the family farm in Tavistock, Devon.
Her first modelling job was aged 16 for a Levi advert however she is now best known for her career with lingerie company Victoria Secret and Burberry. Since 2006, Rosie has modelled for Victoria Secret but it was not till 2008 when she became a well known model. This was because she was cast by Christopher Bailey to replace Agyness Deyn for the Burberry a/w campaign with Sam Riley. Since then she has never looked back and shared the cover of British Vogue, the face of Karen Millen, received Elle Style awards, starred in a short film for Agent Provocateur, modelled for Godiva, Ralph Lauren, DKNY and Miss Sixty and then in 2009 she officially became a Victoria Secret Angel for their fashion show in NYC aged 22.

Notorious fashion photographer Rankin has made a book dedicated to Rosie titled 'Ten Times Rosie'. 
He stated "We’ve been looking at very, very skinny, almost masculine girls for a long time. She really is the model of the moment. She’s the actress of the moment. She’s definitely going to become something much, much bigger."
I think she puts a femininity back into modelling with out looking slutty.

In 2011 she dabbled her good looks into a bit of acting and played the role of Carly Spencer, replacing Megan Fox, in Transformers:Dark of the Moon. She had previously worked with the films director Michael Bay on a Victoria Secret advert. She did not get much praise for her part in the film with Lou Lumenick stating her "acting makes Megan Fox look like Meryl Streep in comparison". A little harsh I think, I've not seen the film but for someone who has never done any acting lessons and baring in mind this is her first film, she shouldn't be criticised too harshly.

Over the years she has won a numerous awards from FHM, Elle Style Awards, Ask men's top desirable women etc.

Her latest venture has been creating a lingerie line for M&S (marks and spencer). The company have said that the range had been "designed by a woman for women, as opposed to being designed for the titillation of men". FULL ARTICLE HERE

After looking at the collection myself I can definitely agree with this. the range is very flirty and feminine but they actually look comfortable and something easy to wear!



Out of the public eye (well as out of it as she can) she has a very casual style including jeans and baggy jumpers. I think it's nice to see a model dressed as a 'normal' person. It shows that they are just like us!
